Questions & Answers ABOUT THE PRESCHOOL
Q: How often will I "co-op" in my child's preschool classroom?
A: Parent participation in the classrooms is completely optional, but we provide a very flexible model of co-oping that allows for everyone to participate at a level that is comfortable for their family schedule.
Parents/caretakers will have a wide array of opportunities to engage in their student's school day for each class. Examples include:
- a variety of school days throughout the year to assist in the classroom
- the day of (or near) your child's birthday so you can celebrate in class
- 2-4 scheduled field trips during the year that require an accompanying adult
- special concerts, celebrations, or Co-Op events throughout the year
- reader/library days for a shortened visit
- special project days
Each teacher will email a sign up genius outlining the dates available for parent attendance at the beginning of the year.
There will also be limited opportunities to participate in Discovery Fridays, Lunch & Play, and Enrichment Classes.
For the Toddler & Me class, a parent or childcare provider is always required to be in class with each child.
Q: Can I bring my younger child to class when I co-op?
A: Younger siblings are not permitted in the preschool classroom. You will need to make babysitting arrangements with friends, family or your own sitter on days that you are participating in the classroom
Q: When is your Open House?
A: We don't have a set Open House. We prefer to schedule individual tours with parents and children so that we may personalize the visit to address your specific needs and any questions you may have, and to facilitate seeing the preschool classrooms in session. We schedule tours almost every day between the hours of 9 am and 3 pm. Call us (201) 447-6232 or email us (mailto:[email protected]) to arrange a visit.
Q: What is your tuition for the year?
A: The Ridgewood Co-Op has very competitive preschool tuition rates. Please download the brochure on the home page of this website to see our rates, or call/email us for more detailed tuition information.
Q: You are located inside a Church, does that mean you teach religion?
A: No. While we are affiliated with the Ridgewood United Methodist Church, and we share a wonderful relationship with the Church and its parishioners, the Co-Op has a secular program. We do, however, love to have the children participate in the charitable organizations that the Church supports, such as the holiday food and gift drives.
